Military life can be difficult for even the youngest members of the family. With moving, frequent separations from a parent, and academic challenges these kids have to deal with a lot. On this episode, Sheena talks to a former military child who decided to turn active duty after college about the differences between life as a military child and as the actual military member.

Aaron Arting is a Major and has been an active duty member in the US Air Force for the past thirteen years. He was born into a military family and spent the first eleven years of his life at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho. As a child, he lived through separations from his father during his service and a few military moves to Hawaii and California. Aaron decided to attend the University of Idaho where he got a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and decided to join the Air Force ROTC program there. Now, he works as a developmental engineer with the AF in Acquisitions. He met and married Sheena in 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. Together they are raising two boys and two dogs and have lived in Texas, New Mexico, Florida, and Virginia.
